After World War II, two old school chums, Leslie Smith and Rodney Smith, formed Lesney Products. They were soon joined by another ex-soldier, John "Jack" William Odell. And this trio created the legend that would soon be known as Matchbox.
Since those early days, Matchbox has crossed the ocean to the United States where it has grown and evolved. Throughout its illustrious history, Matchbox has been the name that both children and adults have turned to when they wanted to collect die-cast models. Generation after generation grew up with Matchbox replicas among their most cherished possessions. These models included virtually every mode of transportation, including the big rigs that dominate highways the world over.
In recent years, Matchbox Collectibles has preserved the Matchbox tradition of delivering exceptional value while also producing precision-engineered and beautifully crafted collectibles that have raised the benchmark for authenticity and value. Now, crossing the threshold from one century to the next is a die-cast 18-wheeler decorated with the new Matchbox Collectibles logo, created to stand the test of time in the new millenium. The cab that pulls the trailer is an authentic replica of a rig built by Mack Trucks, Inc., a company renowned for rugged and dependable trucks. The Matchbox Collectibles Millenium Tractor Trailer - featuring a MACK CH600 die-cast cab and die-cast trailer - has been produced by - and is available only from - Matchbox Collectibles.
